Lohoff at the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, is now recruiting for a Staff Scientist position (MD and/or PhD) to conduct research in our NIH clinical center laboratory. About the position Our section uses translational research strategies to investigate genetic susceptibility and neuroadaptive processes that underpin the development and treatment of alcohol use disorder, addiction and related phenotypes. Specifically, our lab focuses on molecular mechanisms involved in addiction biology and works to generate and integrate large multiomic data sets for various target validation paradigms and experimentation. This staff scientist position will fill a critical, and currently unmet, role in the laboratory to design, implement, and manage, large-scale multiomic datasets related to addiction and psychiatric phenotypes, ensuring the efficacy and reliability of our ongoing studies through the use of state of the art statistical genetics techniques, to identify novel targets for alcohol use disorder and addictions. Lohoff, MD Contact email niaaastaffsciscget@nih.gov Qualifications To be eligible for this position, applicants must have a PhD degree in Human Genetics, Neuroscience, Psychology, or Biology, and 4+ years of experience in a relevant area of human genetics and neuroscience. NIAAA's ideal candidate will have experience with multiomic data integration, Mendelian randomization analyses, and large data analysis software packages such as MatLab, R, and Python. Applicants should also have excellent communication skills and the ability to work both as part of a team and independently. Candidates should have a strong background in molecular biology, molecular genetics and epigenetics, sequencing techniques and bioinformatics analyses, as well as a history of solid prior publications.
