Job Duties:
Responsible for evaluating, developing, and implementing effective herd reproductive and health programs for commercial dairy operation.
Specific duties include:
(1) Evaluating, developing, and implementing animal health programs to maximize herd health, including diagnosing and treating sick animals; (2) Monitoring milk production and evaluating cows with reduced production; (3) Monitoring and evaluating animal nutrition to maximize dairy production and promote overall health; (4) Evaluating, developing, and implementing animal breeding protocols, including synchronizing estrus, detecting heat, and preparing animals for artificial insemination or pregnancy checks; (5) Evaluating, developing, and implementing calf and maternity care programs, including assisting with difficult calvings, monitoring and ensuring the overall health of calves, administering vaccinations, and detecting illness or pain; (6) Performing detailed recordkeeping on animal health, reproduction, and nutrition in DairyComp.
Requirements:
Associate's degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, Agronomy, or a related agricultural field. Housing available. Interested candidates should submit a resume & a cover letter to HR, Bad Axe Dairy
