Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum age of 16 Background check Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions, observational skills Ability to work in a team environment and/or independently Must be able to work in a wide range of outdoor conditions including heat, humidity, wind, and rain Ability to sit, kneel, stand, and bend frequently and lift 10-50 pounds repeatedly Candidates must be willing to travel to offsite field trials periodically
Preferred Qualifications:
Some entomological knowledge would be helpful but is not required Current driver's license (must be 18+ to drive University vehicles) Interest in agriculture research Job duties: Assist in trial layout and preparation, planting, weeding, scouting, and harvest of field plots Collecting and entering field data on insect populations and damage Maintenance of insect laboratory colonies, including producing plants in greenhouse, feeding colonies, monitoring health and number of colony insects Assisting in bioassays measuring insecticide resistance in field colonies. Assisting in the establishment and maintenance of an insect trapping network, sorting and limited identification of trapped insects Other tasks as needed.
