Job Description

  • Genetics & Genomics Lead
  • As a Genetics & Genomics Lead, you drive a cutting-edge hub that serves as the industry-leading talent and capability platform for genomics and genetics, providing deep insights into genomes, genetics, functional genomics, and sequencing; You ensure that internal research and development initiatives in this space are strategically aligned with organizational goals, from early concept through successful delivery; By connecting external technology capabilities and innovations with our most important portfolio and business outcomes, you help shape investment decisions and build a world-class workforce in genetics and genomics; Partnering closely with cross-functional leaders, you foster a high-performance, feedback-rich culture that unleashes the passion and energy of our people while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance.
  • YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The primary responsibilities of this role, Genetics & Genomics Lead, are to: + Lead the Genetics and Genomics hub as an industry-leading talent and capability platform for genomics and genetics that provides insights into genomes, genetics, functional genomics, and sequencing; + Drive an understanding of external technology capabilities and innovations in genomics and genetics and map those capabilities to business needs, aligning investment with the most important portfolio and business (PB) outcomes; + Manage and optimize assets to meet the needs of genome editing, gene expression, genomics, target design and discovery, and nucleic acid sequencing at appropriate coverage; + Enable the success of key PB outcomes in genomics and target design and discovery by building and sustaining an industry-leading talent workforce; + Set standards for work performed, identify people performance gaps, and drive mindset changes via coaching toward desired DSO behaviors and outcomes; + Architect frameworks that enable peer-to-peer feedback on performance and development, as well as recognition mechanisms aligned with those feedback systems; + Identify talent gaps for the most important PB outcomes requiring genetics and genomics expertise, then fill those gaps through sourcing, upskilling, and dynamic resource flow from the Genomics and Genetics Hub; + Catalyze interactions with work team leads to clarify talent needs and ensure the right capabilities are deployed to the highest-value outcomes; + Ensure high safety standards, compliant actions, and robust evaluation of potential risks across all processes within the area of responsibility; + Oversee appropriate onboarding and training of new talent in the Genomics and Genetics Hub.
  • WHO YOU ARE
  • Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following: + Ph.
D.; + Proven track record of developing individuals and creating high-performing teams; + Demonstrated exceptional record of technical leadership in genetics, genomics, or closely related fields; + Excellent written and verbal communication skills in a business environment; + Ability to work effectively within a dynamic, cross-functional, multidisciplinary organization and to interact with leading technical experts, division heads, and senior leaders on current and future business opportunities; + Capability to engage internally and externally about technology drivers and to guide teams in defining the outcomes needed to deliver on the mission (Visionary); + Strength in shaping value-creating systems that unleash the passion and energy of people (Architect) and in removing roadblocks to facilitate connection and collaboration (Catalyst); + Strong coaching mindset to help teams learn and build the capabilities needed to create value for customers and stakeholders.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • + Ph.
D. with approximately 10 years of experience leading teams and developing individuals. This posting will be available for application until at least April 29,2026. Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $191,280.00 to $286,920. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant's location, market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
