Job Description
The MMRRC and the RRRC are currently seeking a Research Specialist I to join their team to support a range of repository and research initiatives. The position requires a detail-oriented person who will perform tasks related to rodent colony management, reproductive biology and gamete/embryo cryobiology. Duties will include managing mouse and rat breeding colonies, surgical procedures such as embryo transfer and vasectomy; sperm and embryo cryopreservation and cryorecovery; media and hormone preparation; animal injections (mouse & rat); embryo manipulation such as microinjection and electroporation, electronic data management, including maintaining inventory, and general record keeping. Participation in research projects aimed at improving Resource Center functions and procedures is expected. The position requires good manual dexterity and includes microscope work. Must be flexible with daily start and end times which are based on needs of animal procedures that aren't always predictable. Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Preferred Qualifications Mouse and rat handling experience. BA/BS in life sciences or animal science is preferred. Must possess excellent organizational skills and attention to detail and be able to work individually and in a team setting.Anticipated Hiring Range Starting wage:
