About the position The NIEHS Cyrogenic Electron Microscopy Core provides 300 keV Titan Krios G4, a 200 keV Talos Arctica, an Aquilos cryo-FIBSEM, and multiple sample preparation systems, as well as extensive NIH high-performance computing and cloud computing resources, to research teams across NIEHS. Specifically, our laboratory works closely with NIEHS programs to provide protein expression and purification, viral vectors, NMR, X-ray crystallography, mass spectrometry, and molecular dynamics services. This position is an outstanding opportunity to work closely with NIH and regional collaborators on cutting-edge Cryo-EM. Potential research projects will focus on developing single-particle cryo-EM, cryo-electron tomography, and cryo-FIBSEM methodologies and applying these developments to structural and mechanistic studies on Parkinson's disease and HIV. Simultaneously, prospective fellows will support our broad user community and contribute to collaborative projects across the field of molecular and cellular structural biology. Applicants should also be self-motivated, professional, curious, and eager to join a rigorous research environment. Strong computational aptitude and excellent written and oral communication skills are must, as is the ability to work effectively and responsibly in a collaborative team setting.
