00110723Essential Job Duties:
A postdoctoral research scholar position is immediately available. The selected candidate will work under the direct guidance of Dr. Michael Nolan (radiation/cancer biologist and veterinary radiation oncologist). Significant mentorship will also be provided by key collaborators: Drs. Duncan Lascelles (translational pain researcher and oncologic surgeon) and Santosh Mishra (neurobiologist and expert in genetically engineered mouse models). We are a growing group of inquisitive young researchers who are passionate about improving quality of life and survivorship for patients. NC State provides an outstanding academic environment for professional growth and development. And we are part of an exceptional community of researchers in neurobiology, as well as cancer, radiation, and pain biology/medicine; there are excellent core facilities and resources both at NC State, and our partnering institutions: Duke University and the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. This will be a two-year minimum position.Duties and Responsibilities:
The scholar will work with other lab members to lead NIH-funded research projects, studying mechanisms of pain, and interactions between nerves and cancer. The projects involve bench top cell culture experiments, studies using genetically engineered mouse models, behavioral testing, and potential involvement in co-clinical trials in both humans and dogs with cancer.Departmental Required Skills:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g., M.D., D.V.M., Sc.D.) with background in molecular biology, cancer biology, or neurobiology.
