Senior Scientist - Research & Development (Veterinary Biologics) Huvepharma - 3.1 Lincoln, NE Job Details Full-time 21 hours ago Qualifications Advanced cell culture techniques Microbiological culture handling Regulatory compliance Equipment troubleshooting Bioreactors Microbiological analysis Technical troubleshooting support Technical Proficiency Production troubleshooting Full Job Description As a Senior Scientist, you will serve as an individual contributor supporting the development, scale up, and technical transfer of veterinary biologics. This site based role works closely with cross functional teams across Huvepharma's network to ensure efficient progression of projects from early development through commercial manufacturing. Success in this position requires strong technical proficiency in bio process operations, excellent documentation and compliance practices. This position will require the ability to work independently and effectively in a fast paced development environment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology, Biology, Immunology or related life science field of study. A minimum of 10 years post-graduate experience in the animal health industry is desired.
TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
Mammalian and microbial cell culture in bioreactors (bench scale to pilot scale) Fermentation and Bioreactor setup, operation, troubleshooting, and optimization Lyophilization principles, cycle execution, and equipment operation Vaccine antigen production and characterization Bacterial growth, quantification, and phenotypic characterization
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, execute, and troubleshoot bioprocess experiments involving mammalian and microbial cell culture in bioreactors from bench scale through pilot scale. Perform fermentation activities, including setup, operation, monitoring, optimization, and corrective actions to support robust upstream process development. Execute lyophilization workflows, including cycle setup, operation, sample handling, and equipment monitoring to support formulation and stability development. Perform, troubleshoot, and optimize biological and bioprocess laboratory techniques including aseptic operations, downstream processing, and filtration processes. Conduct bacterial culture, enumeration, characterization, and phenotypic analysis to support vaccine development and method qualification. Generate high quality experimental data, interpret results, and provide clear summaries to project teams for decision making. Author, review, and maintain accurate technical documentation, including protocols, lab records, SOPs, batch records, and technical reports consistent with regulatory and internal quality requirements. Support development, validation, and regulatory readiness of processes required for successful licensure of veterinary vaccines. Trains and/or mentors employees in newly developed techniques as needed. Leads compliance and quality improvement efforts in the laboratory. Strong understanding of requirements for successful licensing of veterinary vaccines, including development, validation, and regulatory expectations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including clear technical summarization and cross functional reporting. Effective contributor in a multi functional team environment, aligning experimental execution with R D project goals. Adaptability in rapidly changing development environments, with the ability to adjust priorities, workflows, and problem solving approaches as needed. Ability to write clear and well organized protocols, technical reports, SOPs, batch records, and project updates that meet regulatory and internal quality standards. Strong ability to consistently meet project timelines, manage multiple tasks, and maintain high attention to detail in all development activities.
