Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Molecular Technologist role based in Linden, NJ. Night shift. The Molecular Technologist will perform routine and specialized molecular diagnostic assays, including nucleic acid extraction, PCR-based testing, and other molecular techniques according to established protocols. Responsibilities include preparing specimens and reagents, operating and maintaining molecular laboratory equipment, and documenting all procedures and results in the laboratory information system. The role involves participating in quality control and quality assurance activities, reviewing and interpreting test results, and escalating any unusual findings to senior staff or laboratory leadership. The Molecular Technologist will also help maintain a safe laboratory environment by following safety guidelines, supporting process improvements, and collaborating with colleagues to ensure timely and accurate reporting of patient results. Qualifications Strong laboratory skills, including specimen handling, molecular bench techniques, and adherence to standard operating procedures. Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment such as PCR instruments, centrifuges, biosafety cabinets, and related molecular diagnostic platforms. Knowledge of laboratory safety practices, including biosafety, chemical safety, and proper use of personal protective equipment. Experience with quality control and quality assurance processes in a clinical or molecular laboratory setting. Understanding of laboratory medicine principles, test performance characteristics, and result interpretation in a patient-care context. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., MLT/MLS/MB) preferred. Prior experience in a CLIA-regulated clinical laboratory environment is highly desirable. Strong attention to detail, reliable documentation practices, and the ability to follow complex protocols with minimal supervision. Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work flexible hours as needed to support laboratory operations.
