The Field Biologist conducts biological field surveys, manages and trains field crews, monitors environmental compliance, and assists in the preparation of technical reports for projects in the Southwest region. Responsibilities include data collection, species identification, habitat assessment, and ensuring adherence to environmental regulations and permit requirements. This role requires strong knowledge of Southwest flora and fauna, field survey techniques, and applicable environmental regulations. For out-of-town work that includes overnight, or longer duration stays, per diem and/or single-occupancy hotel rooms may be provided. This position will be based out of our Albuquerque, New Mexico. What will I be doing? Conduct biological field surveys, including vegetation, wildlife, and sensitive species assessments. Manage and train field crews on sampling and survey techniques. Monitor construction sites for compliance with environmental regulations and permit conditions. Identify and document plant and animal species in the field. Assess habitats for suitability for protected species and prepare habitat evaluation reports. Assist in preparing technical reports, permit applications, and environmental documentation. Collect, record, and manage biological data using GPS and other field data collection tools. Communicate field progress and results to task managers and project managers on a daily basis. Coordinate with project managers, regulatory agencies, and clients regarding biological survey requirements. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies during field activities. Maintain organized and accurate field notes and project records. Assist in public meetings and outreach related to biological resources as needed. Maintain current knowledge of relevant technical fields and regulations. What qualifications are required for this role? Bachelor's degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or related field required. Master's degree preferred. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in biological field surveys preferred. Knowledge of Southwest flora and fauna, including identification skills for sensitive species. Experience conducting biological surveys and habitat assessments. Familiarity with federal, state, and local environmental regulations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and GPS data collection tools. Ability to work in remote outdoor environments for extended periods. The wage range for this position is $23-$27/hour. What does GeoSystems Analysis, Inc. offer you?
