Job Description
The successful applicant will assist in sampling Lake Erie waters weekly from our research vessel, visiting ten sites per week in Sandusky Bay. The Field Assistant will be measuring water quality parameters and algal community composition with a submersible light meter and a dedicated fluoroprobe system. Water samples will be filtered and extracted for chlorophyll determination by fluorescence spectroscopy. Career Readiness Competencies Set personal goals and track progress toward them. Must be available to work a full day of field sampling on the date specified per week Ability to work well as a team Operate/maintain technical equipment Strictly adhere to safety and proper lab techniques Prior college-level coursework in Biology or Environmental Sciences Prior experience handling water samples for biological and chemical analysis Organized with meticulous work habits Please note: The ride on the research vessel may not always be smooth.
