Full Job Description Status:
Temporary, Full-time (40-hours/week) with opportunity for hiring to permanent position
Location:
Hillsboro main office (primary location) and field sites in the Portland metro and surrounding areas.
Start date:
June 29th 2026 End date: August 21st 2026
Position Benefits:
$18.50 an hour plus performance bonus; paid training; professional mentorship and networking; college credit eligibility with sponsoring university; ACFM certifications, professional ecological restoration skills, and references.

Summary:
Ash Creek Forest Management, LLC is offering paid apprenticeships for early-career professionals who have faced historic, systemic, or socioeconomic barriers to entry into the natural resource management profession. Successful applicants will work and learn in a small cohort with other apprentices and under the guidance of industry professionals. The apprentice position will work in the field/outdoors and in the office/classroom. Apprentices will gain knowledge and experience essential for entry-level positions in the habitat restoration industry; will conduct work on restoration projects throughout the greater Portland metro area; will learn a variety of habitat restoration principles and methods; and will be engaged in a cohort to foster community creation and lifelong professional networking opportunities. Apprentice will receive introduction to : Habitat Restorationprinciplesand techniques Conservation Strategies and Comprehensive Plans Site Assessment and Project Development PlantIdentificationmethods and practice Integrated Pest Management(IPM)and Invasive Species Management Habitat Mapping and Monitoring Teamwork and Leadership skills Apprentices will receive field training and/or certification in: SafeMechanical/Power Tool Use Equipment Maintenance and Repair PesticideApplication Truck and Trailer Driving CPR/First Aid Apprenticeship fieldwork may include: Control invasive weeds through a variety of IPM techniques,includingcarefulherbicideapplicationand mechanical/manualremoval Install native plantstock,including containers,plugs, bulbs, andbareroot Collect native plant seedandmaterials Native and invasive plant mapping or monitoring Other seasonaltasksas requested
Essential Physical Requirements:
Ability, motivation, and endurance for eight to ten hours of productive manual labor Ability to work outdoors across uneven terrain during inclement weather Ability to occasionally lift 45lbs. during workday Ability to frequently carry 30lbs. during the workday
Required Qualifications:
Ability to commit to thefull duration ofprogram schedule(8 weeks) 18-24 years of ageon June 29, 2026 U.S. citizen or eligibility to work in the U.S. Reliable means of transportation to Hillsboro office and/orlocalworksites
Preferred Qualifications:
Experienceworkingcollaborativelyand with a team Background or interest in environmental science/studies, biology, native plant horticulture, gardening, and/or the outdoors
