Job Description - PacBio Sequencing Specialist (Client-Ready) Overview We are seeking a Sequencing Scientist with direct experience operating PacBio long-read NGS platforms. This individual will be responsible for executing and managing sequencing runs, ensuring high-quality data generation and maintaining instrument performance. Key Responsibilities Operate PacBio sequencing instruments (Sequel II, IIe, or Revio) to execute long-read sequencing runs Prepare and load sequencing runs, including reagent setup and run configuration Monitor sequencing performance and troubleshoot issues in real time to ensure optimal output Perform routine instrument maintenance, calibration, and basic repairs as needed Document run metrics, outcomes, and deviations in accordance with lab standards Collaborate with lab teams to ensure proper sample handoff and workflow continuity Maintain compliance with internal SOPs and quality standards Support continuous improvement efforts to optimize sequencing throughput and quality Core Requirements - Step 2: PacBio Instrument Operation (Must-Have) Hands-on experience operating PacBio SMRT sequencing platforms (Sequel II, IIe, or Revio preferred) Proven ability to load, run, and monitor sequencing runs on PacBio systems Strong understanding of long-read sequencing workflows and run setup parameters Experience with instrument calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting Ability to identify and resolve run failures, low yield, or quality issues Familiarity with SMRT Link software or equivalent PacBio run management tools Understanding of sample QC metrics impacting sequencing performance Ability to follow SOPs, GLP, or GMP environments if applicable Strong documentation skills, including recording run conditions and outcomes Ability to work cross-functionally with lab teams supporting upstream and downstream processes Nice-to-Have (Supporting Skills) Experience with library prep for long-read sequencing (HiFi libraries, SMRTbell prep) Basic exposure to NGS data output and QC review Familiarity with downstream analysis pipelines or bioinformatics teams Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, or related field 2-5+ years of hands-on experience with PacBio sequencing platforms Strong understanding of long-read sequencing applications and workflows Experience in regulated lab environments is a plus Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills Ability to work in a fast-paced lab environment with multiple concurrent runs Pay $40hr - $50hr
