JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The Senior Research Specialist performs a broad range of testing and procedures to determine the impact of obesity on cancer risk and cancer outcomes. Develops functions as support for mouse colony management and experiments. Performs various procedures, including managing mice, tagging, tailing genotyping, data entry, diet and cancer studies, and endpoint analysis. Utilizes the Incucyte system or other tools to quantify cancer cell growth and death. Performs extensive in vitro cancer cell and immune cell culture work or ex vivo using flow analysis, FACS, etc. to quantify microbial derived metabolite or pharmacologic inhibitor changes to immune cells. Performs extensive in vitro cancer cell and immune cell analysis in-vitro or ex vivo using RNA isolation and RNAseq to quantify microbial-derived metabolite or pharmacologic inhibitor changes to cancer and immune cells. Observes and ensures all biosafety rules and regulations for the lab, mouse work, and paperwork necessary to conduct experiments. Collaborates with the Principal Investigator and postdocs to determine day-to-day experiments and weekly goals. Performs other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree in Molecular Biology or a related field. (TRANSCRIPT

EXPERIENCE
Four (4) years of cell culture and mouse experience OR Master's Degree in Molecular Biology or a related field and two (2) years of cell culture and mouse experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Skill in mouse models and in vitro cell culture. Ability and knowledge to complete mouse and in vitro immune cancer studies using established skills. Ability to learn to use equipment such as Incucyte, EVOS, RNAseq, and confocal microscopy.
