Job Description

TTU Research Aide Lubbock 44349BR Biological Sciences Position Description Performs specialized work in conducting and supporting original research in bird and butterfly evolution and behavior. Work is performed under general supervision with evaluation based on accomplishment of assigned objectives and overall effectiveness of project. May supervise research and student assistants. Adherence to robust safety practices and compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations are responsibilities of all employees. About the Department and/or College Our department is not just for researchers. We play a critical role in the education of life science and health majors, and the department offers four different B.S. degrees (in Biology, Ecology and Environmental Biology, Microbiology, and Cell and Molecular Biology) to over 1600 undergraduate student majors. Major/Essential Functions Purchasing and budget tracking for research activities. Maintenance of compliance records for activities in research. Lab maintenance and organization. Perform data organization and analysis as instructed by lab principal investigator. Crosstrain graduate and undergraduate lab assistants on safe lab practices. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a specialized field and one year research experience. Knowledge of modern research practices, the methods, resources, and standards thereof. Preferred Qualifications MS in Biology or related field. Experience in biological research laboratory setting. Experience and/or certification with safety procedures, personal protective equipment, and inspection protocols. Computational and analytical skills (with R and/or Python). Extensive bird mist netting experience. Experience rearing insects.
