Job Description
Description The Chemistry Lab Technician supports the Environmental Affairs group of our utility client by performing hands‑on laboratory testing and analysis on environmental samples collected from generation facilities and other company sites. This role is responsible for receiving, logging, preparing, and analyzing water, oil, and other materials in accordance with standard operating procedures, regulatory requirements, and utility best practices. Typical analyses may include water quality testing, oil transfers and screening, TCLP sample preparation, and waste characterization to determine regulatory status and proper disposal methods. The technician works closely with field sampling teams, environmental engineers, and compliance staff to ensure accurate, timely, and defensible results. In this role, the technician maintains laboratory equipment, follows strict chain‑of‑custody and quality control procedures, and documents results to support environmental compliance and reporting obligations. A bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, or a related scientific discipline is required, including a minimum of 15 credit hours of chemistry. Prior laboratory experience is preferred, particularly experience performing environmental, water, or waste characterization testing in an industrial, utility, or regulated environment. Experience Level Intermediate Level Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Birmingham, AL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.
