Lab Technician Interested applicants should reach out directly to Chaney Cornell and send their most up-to-date resume to chcornell@actalentservices .com Job Description The Lab Technician performs laboratory analyses to determine the chemical and physical characteristics of solid, liquid, and gaseous materials. This role supports process control, product quality, and environmental compliance by conducting accurate testing, maintaining detailed documentation, and interpreting results to guide operational decisions. Responsibilities Operate laboratory equipment and instruments: Arc-Spark emission Spectrometer, Inductively Coupled Plasma Spectrometer, LECO, X-ray Fluorescence Analyzer, pH meter, analytical balance, including spectrometers, furnaces, balances, pH meters, and related equipment. and other equipment. Prepare chemical solutions according to standard formulas, using proper techniques for measuring volumes and weights of solids and liquids. Analyze the chemical composition of in-process materials and issue instructions for completing the alloying process. Work independently with minimal supervision while following established laboratory procedures and protocols. Troubleshoot routine instrument and equipment issues and perform basic corrective actions to maintain reliable operation. Prepare chemical solutions and test samples using standard laboratory techniques and good laboratory practices. Conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses on raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, and environmental samples. Record, organize, and report test results accurately using electronic data systems and laboratory records. Interpret test results and provide guidance to production or operations teams to support chemical or process adjustments. Assist in identifying and resolving routine process or quality deviations through analytical testing and collaboration with other teams. Support environmental monitoring activities and contribute to proper waste disposition in accordance with established procedures. Comply with all safety, environmental, quality, and housekeeping standards at all times in the laboratory. Assist in training and mentoring new laboratory personnel on procedures, safety practices, and equipment use. Maintain professional conduct and perform additional laboratory duties as assigned to support overall operations. Essential Skills Proven ability to perform quality control testing in a laboratory environment. Hands-on experience with general laboratory practices and techniques. Foundational knowledge of chemistry and chemical principles applicable to laboratory testing. Practical experience with wet chemistry methods, including solution preparation and handling. Ability to perform titrations and other standard chemical analyses accurately and consistently. At least 1 year of chemistry-based laboratory experience, which may include academic laboratory work. Ability to follow detailed procedures, document work clearly, and use electronic data systems for recording results. Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent education is required. Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline is preferred. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in testing and documentation. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high quality standards. Willingness to support and mentor new team members in laboratory procedures and safety practices. Strong sense of responsibility for safety, environmental compliance, and housekeeping in the laboratory. Work Environment This role is based in a laboratory environment that focuses on analytical testing of solid, liquid, and gaseous materials. The position involves regular use of laboratory instruments such as spectrometers, furnaces, balances, pH meters, and related equipment. Work includes preparing chemical solutions, handling samples, and performing wet chemistry and titration procedures. The Lab Technician follows established safety, environmental, quality, and housekeeping standards and may occasionally lift up to 50 pounds when handling materials or equipment. The environment supports collaboration with production or operations teams while also requiring the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
