Job Description

This position is 12 Extended Days paid at the te acher's daily rate of pay. Chemical Hygiene Officer 1. Provide training to staff members dealing with chemicals. 2. Assist principals, building chemical hygiene officers and other employees with implementation of safety procedures as stipulated in federal regulations. 3. Update/review the district Chemical Hygiene Plan. 4. Maintain training and inspection records for the district. 5. Maintain hazardous materials chemical inventory and inform local fire departments about the levels of these chemicals in schools. 6. Serve as the district safety contact. 7. Conduct inspections throughout schools for compliance of chemical storage. 8. Conduct or arrange sampling of chemicals. 9. Manage the hazardous communications program. 10. Develop specific chemical standard operating procedures. 11. Seek ways to improve the chemical hygiene plan and safety program. 12. Verify and improve OSHA compliance. 13. Learn about federal, state and local regulations regarding chemical hygiene. 14. Monitor use and procurement of chemicals. 15. Teach lab safety. 16. Provide regulatory information updates. 17. Keep training records. 18. Administer training assessments. 19. Prepare audit/inspection materials. 20. Provide federally mandated fire extinguisher training opportunities. 21. Provide/advise about safety equipment and PPE. 22. Provide training materials to all schools in the district. 23. Respond to questions regarding chemical hygiene and safety from every employee in the district.
