Job Description

The Chemical Specialist provides critical field support to ensure the proper application, monitoring, and optimization of chemical treatments. Reporting to and assisting the chemical advisor, this role involves working on-site to carry out chemical program initiatives, maintenance of treating equipment, and perform routine sampling and testing. While focused on field execution, the role is instrumental in supporting operations through hands-on tasks, ensuring treatments are applied safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
Field Support:
Assist operations by implementing chemical treatment programs in the field. This includes the hands-on preparation and application of chemicals at wellheads, pipelines, and other production sites.
Equipment Maintenance & Calibration:
Maintain and calibrate gas treating equipment, such as H2S scavenger units, chemical injection pumps, and monitoring devices. Ensure equipment is functioning optimally and troubleshoot issues when necessary.
Chemical Monitoring:
Perform routine checks to ensure proper chemical dosing and injection rates, adjusting systems as needed based on established protocols from the chemical advisor.
Sample Collection & Field Testing:
Collect fluid samples (oil, gas, water) for laboratory analysis or field testing. Work closely with pigging operations and vendors for sample collection. Conduct field tests to assess treatment effectiveness and report results to the chemical advisor.
Safety Compliance:
Follow all safety procedures during chemical handling, equipment servicing, and field operations. Ensure compliance with company and regulatory safety standards, particularly in relation to hazardous chemicals and gas treatments.•
Data Collection:
Collect field data, including chemical usage rates, equipment performance, and provide detailed reports for further analysis. Assist with tracking chemical usage and ensuring optimal inventory levels.
Optimization Support:
Implement optimization adjustments in the field, based on gathered data and performance reports, to ensure treatments are delivering the desired results.
Failure Response:
Assist in collecting failure samples and routing them through the established failure analysis process. Witness pump tear downs to collect and report failure data
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure all field activities comply with industry regulations and environmental standards, particularly regarding H2S reduction, chemical disposal, and water treatment.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience. Experience supporting production chemical applications within the oil and gas industry. Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative in identifying and resolving operational and chemical program challenges. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel required, including experience building data tables, generating reports, analyzing large data sets, and supporting operational decision making through data analysis. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and support chemical injection equipment and gas treating systems. •Working knowledge of applicable safety regulations, chemical handling requirements, and gas treating system safety practices. Ability to follow detailed technical procedures while working in field environments. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a service focused approach to supporting field operations, engineering teams, and vendor partners. High attention to detail with demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records related to chemical treatments, equipment maintenance, and field activity reporting.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Capable of lifting and handling chemicals and equipment (up to 50 lbs). Daily travel to various field locations throughout South Texas is required. Crescent Energy is an equal opportunity employer.
