Job Description

Position Summary:
The Chemical Laboratory Technician is a hands-on position responsible for following workflow requirements for producing permeation tubes/products following procedures and work instructions according to the KIN-TEK Analytical, Inc. Quality Management System, and all applicable safety and regulatory requirements. The individual will also provide customer application support including responding to technical questions, providing order status and delivery dates, and troubleshooting problems related to permeation tubes. This position will correspond directly with other in-house processes to ensure customer satisfaction and order requirements are met.
Responsibilities/Authorities:
  • Maintain lab stock/supplies, equipment, chemical inventory, and prepare purchase requests to replenish established inventory levels.
  • Follow established procedures, processes, and ISO Standards and/or other applicable standards.
  • Construct, fill, and certify, various types of permeation tubes, synthesize some chemicals, and follow directives required to complete customer orders.
  • Follow safety guidelines in chemical handling, cylinder gas handling, and other stated activities.
  • Prepare finished products for packaging including but not limited to finalizing, printing, and preparing proper documentation required for shipment while also reporting any schedule or product deviations.
  • Provide technical support to sales personnel as needed to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Suggest improvements to lab work processes and procedures, update or create documentation and safety protocols, and assist Lab Team Leader in administrative activities.
  • Learn, understand, and utilize database management for maintaining records and product traceability.
  • Meet ISO Standard Requirements and work with KTA Management to continuously improve processes. Qualifications
  • BS degree in Science (chemistry, biochemistry, physics, and related discipline) is preferred or equivalent experience in working in a chemical laboratory.
  • One plus year of hands-on laboratory experience and confidence with working with chemicals, reagents, gas cylinders, etc.
  • Basic laboratory skills should include a full understanding of safety procedures relating to handling chemicals including hazardous chemicals.
  • Excellent communication skills to provide support for Customers about use of products produced.
  • Writing and verbal skills to ensure high quality customer communications and support.
  • PC skills including database familiarity and strong skills using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • A good understanding of gas chromatography concepts and calibration is a plus.
  • Advanced mathematical skills (including knowledge in use of the metric system, conversions, and algebraic calculations).
  • Ability to read, follow, and write work instructions.
  • Specific visual abilities required for this position include close vision, distant vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Employees are frequently required to stand and use hands, handle, manipulate, or feel objects, tools, and controls to walk, sit, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, and lift or move up to 30 pounds with or without assistance.
