Job Title:
Chemical Technician Job Description The Chemical Technician supports chemical operations across a manufacturing facility and laboratory by safely handling, transferring, and packaging chemicals, as well as producing foams, gels, and other fire suppression chemicals. This role contributes directly to both product development and production activities in a growing operation, with opportunities for cross-training and internal development. Responsibilities Support daily chemical operations throughout the facility and laboratory in a safe and efficient manner. Handle chemicals in accordance with established procedures, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements. Assist with chemical transfer processes, including moving materials between containers, systems, and production lines. Perform chemical packaging activities, ensuring correct labeling, documentation, and compliance with safety data sheets (SDS). Produce foams, gels, and other fire suppression chemicals following standard operating procedures and quality standards. Follow Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines to maintain product quality and process consistency. Maintain accurate records related to chemical handling, transfers, and production activities as required. Collaborate with team members to support both new product development and ongoing production runs. Monitor work areas for cleanliness and organization, and promptly address any spills or safety concerns. Participate in cross-training opportunities to learn additional processes and responsibilities within the facility. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and safe work practices. Essential Skills Approximately 1 year of experience in chemical manufacturing or chemical handling preferred. Demonstrated ability to handle chemicals safely in a manufacturing or laboratory environment. Familiarity with chemical handling procedures and safety data sheets (SDS). Understanding of manufacturing processes related to chemical production. Awareness of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) principles. Strong attention to detail when following procedures, measuring materials, and documenting activities. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately. Capability to work effectively as part of a team in a production environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Interest in learning new processes and participating in cross-training opportunities. Willingness to support both product development and production activities. Strong commitment to workplace safety and compliance with established protocols. Good organizational skills to manage multiple tasks within a manufacturing setting. Ability to adapt to changes in schedules, processes, and production priorities as the facility grows. Work Environment This position is based in a chemical manufacturing facility that develops and produces fire suppression chemicals, including foams and gels. The environment includes both production areas and laboratory spaces, with a strong focus on safety, compliance, and quality. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with the possibility of overtime before or after the regular shift and potential overtime on Saturdays. The role will begin on a 5-day-per-week schedule and may transition to a 4-day, 10-hour schedule as operations evolve. Employees work around chemical processing equipment and follow Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards, using appropriate safety procedures and equipment while contributing to a growing facility that offers opportunities for internal development and cross-training. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of De Pere, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
