$70,000 - $90,000 annually (commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications) Position Summary Carbon Activated Corporation is seeking a highly motivated Laboratory Chemist to oversee laboratory operations, analytical testing, quality control, and research & development activities related to activated carbon products and adsorption technologies. This position will play a critical role in supporting product quality, technical sales, manufacturing, regulatory compliance, and the development of new activated carbon products and applications. Key ResponsibilitiesLaboratory Management Manage day-to-day laboratory operations and maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment. Develop, maintain, and improve laboratory procedures, testing protocols, and quality systems. Ensure laboratory equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and operated. Maintain laboratory records, test reports, and documentation. Analytical Testing & Quality Control Conduct analytical testing of activated carbon products, including physical and chemical characterization. Perform testing such as moisture, ash, density, particle size distribution, hardness, pH, iodine number, molasses number, CTC activity, and other adsorption performance evaluations. Analyze test data and prepare technical reports for internal and external stakeholders. Support quality assurance programs and investigate product performance issues when necessary. Research & Development Participate in the development of new activated carbon products and treatment technologies. Design and conduct laboratory experiments to evaluate adsorption performance for emerging contaminants and industrial applications. Support pilot testing and scale-up activities. Collaborate with sales, operations, and management teams to develop technical solutions for customer applications. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a closely related field required. 2+ years of laboratory experience preferred; experience with activated carbon, water treatment, environmental testing, or adsorption technologies is highly desirable. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience with laboratory instrumentation and data analysis. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience in activated carbon manufacturing, water treatment, air treatment, or environmental remediation. Knowledge of ASTM, AWWA, EPA, or other relevant testing methods.
