The role involves routine laboratory testing, method development, data interpretation, instrument maintenance, and documentation in accordance with laboratory quality systems and good laboratory practices (GLP). Key Responsibilities
- Perform analytical testing of edible oils, fats, and related products using established laboratory methods.
- Analyze samples for parameters such as: o Free Fatty Acid (FFA) o Peroxide Value (PV) o Moisture and Volatile Matter o Insoluble Impurities o Fatty Acid Composition o Oxidative Stability o Color and Density o Sensory testing
- Operate and maintain laboratory instruments including: o Gas Chromatography (GC-FID) o High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) o UV-Visible Spectrophotometers o Karl Fischer Titrators o Automatic Titration Systems
- Prepare standards, reagents, and calibration solutions.
- Review analytical data and prepare accurate test reports.
- Investigate out-of-specification (OOS) results and assist with root-cause analyses.
- Ensure compliance with quality systems, GLP, GMP, SQF, and food safety requirements.
- Maintain laboratory records, worksheets, and electronic databases.
- Participate in method validation, verification, and continuous improvement projects.
- Support internal audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections.
- Follow all laboratory safety procedures and maintain a clean working environment.
- Keep an inventory of supplies, gases, and chemicals and reorder as needed Qualifications Education
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Food Science, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline. Experience
- 3-5 years of laboratory experience in food, edible oils, fats, or related industries preferred.
- Experience with chromatographic and wet chemistry techniques.
- Experience installing and validating new equipment
- Familiarity with AOCS, IOC, ISO, ASTM, or USP analytical methods is desirable. Technical Skills
- Knowledge of edible oil refining, processing, and quality parameters.
- Proficiency in laboratory instrumentation and analytical techniques.
- Strong understanding of chemical calculations and statistical data analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and laboratory software. Soft Skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.

- Laboratory-based environment with routine handling of chemicals and food products.
- Standing for extended periods and occasional lifting of sample containers up to 25 lbs.
