12-Month Contract Position Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and team-oriented Manufacturing Chemist with experience in organic synthesis to support a Nucleotide Manufacturing group. This role involves manufacturing and testing components and reagents of moderate to high complexity using standard laboratory equipment while following established work instructions and test methods. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of purification and analytical techniques used in the production of complex nucleotides and/or oligonucleotides, including ion exchange and reverse-phase chromatography. This is an entry-level opportunity suited for candidates with 0-2 years of hands-on bench experience in synthetic chemistry. Key Responsibilities Synthesize complex organic molecules according to established protocols Perform HPLC purification, including instrument setup, sample preparation, run execution, and data analysis Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs) in compliance with the Quality Management System Plan and execute daily tasks with minimal supervision Generate and analyze data to support decision-making Maintain high-quality execution across varying levels of complexity and techniques Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety requirements Manage inventory of reagents, chemicals, and supplies using proper labeling and systems Complete ERP transactions for manufacturing work order processing Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R D, EH&S, Quality Assurance, and Manufacturing Engineering Identify and mitigate safety and quality risks; drive continuous improvement initiatives Perform safety and quality inspections as part of a 6S program Operate equipment safely in accordance with established guidelines and regulations Required Qualifications 0-2 years of experience in synthetic chemistry, purification, and QC analysis of organic molecules Demonstrated ability to follow established protocols for complex organic synthesis Working knowledge of: Synthetic organic chemistry HPLC methods Manufacturing processes and execution systems Familiarity with standard laboratory equipment (HPLC/UPLC, synthesizers, reactors, rotary evaporators, UV/Vis spectrophotometers, pH meters, etc.) Strong written and verbal communication skills Basic understanding of equipment maintenance, calibration, and upkeep Familiarity with quality and regulatory standards (ISO 9001, ISO 13485, FDA QSR) Exposure to ERP, MES, or quality systems (e.g., SAP or similar platforms) Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) Ability to lift up to 40 lbs Education Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related field Specialization in synthetic or analytical chemistry preferred Preferred Qualifications Experience in DNA analysis methods Exposure to life sciences or biotechnology industry Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies Experience with systems such as ERP, EAM, or MES platforms Experience Level Entry-level (0-2 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience) ...
