Scientist, In Vitro / Ex Vivo Inotiv parental leave, paid time off, 401(k) United States, Colorado, Boulder May 12, 2026 Scientist, In Vitro / Ex Vivo Position Summary The Scientist - In Vitro / Ex Vivo supports the design, execution, and analysis of complex in vitro and ex vivo studies, with a primary focus on flow cytometry-based assays. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across functional teams and sites to deliver high-quality, reproducible data in support of internal development and client programs. The ideal candidate demonstrates both technical proficiency and sound scientific judgment, including the ability to troubleshoot assays, interpret data, and clearly communicate results in a fast-paced, client-driven environment. This position plays a key role in ensuring data integrity, operational efficiency, and scientific excellence within the In Vitro team. This role is based fully onsite at our Boulder, CO site. Responsibilities and Duties Design, develop, optimize, and execute flow cytometry-based assays for in vitro and ex vivo studies
Perform routine and complex laboratory procedures, including:
Multicolor flow cytometry panel design and optimization
Sample processing and cell handling (human and/or animal tissues)
Immunophenotyping and functional assays
Data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation using flow cytometry software (e.g., FlowJo, CytoScribe)
Support the development and refinement of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and assay workflows
Troubleshoot technical issues and implement corrective actions to ensure reliable data generation
Maintain accurate and complete experimental records in accordance with company and regulatory requirements
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Operations, Project Management, Scientific Leadership) to meet study timelines and deliverables
Communicate results clearly through written reports, data summaries, and internal or client-facing discussions
Ensure compliance with applicable quality standards and internal quality systems
Participate in the training and mentoring of junior staff, as appropriate
Contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory processes, workflows, and scientific capabilities Position Requirements Education and Experience Bachelor's or Master's degree in Immunology, Biology, Cell Biology, or a related life sciences field
4+ years of hands-on laboratory experience in flow cytometry and cell-based assays (level may be adjusted based on experience)
Demonstrated experience operating flow cytometry instrumentation and analyzing complex datasets
Strong understanding of immunology, cell biology, and assay design principles
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Experience with analysis software (e.g., Prism, FlowJo, CytoScribe) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); Smartsheet experience is a plus Preferred Qualifications PhD in Immunology, Biology, Cell Biology, or a related life sciences field
Experience working in a contract research organization (CRO) or other client-facing environment
Experience working with tissues from a variety of species (e.g., human, non-human primate, murine, rat)
Experience contributing to SOP development and/or method validation
Experience training or mentoring laboratory staff Skills and Abilities Demonstrated scientific rigor with strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality and integrity
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to interpret results and identify effective solutions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment and interact effectively with scientific staff at all levels
High level of accountability and reliability, with the ability to manage responsibilities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
Adaptability and flexibility to respond to changing priorities and operational needs Physical Requirements Ability to work in a laboratory environment for extended periods
Ability to lift and move laboratory materials and equipment weighing up to 15 lbs
Ability to use standard laboratory equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) Work Environment This position operates primarily in a laboratory setting and requires adherence to safety and quality procedures. Work may involve handling biological samples and operating specialized laboratory equipment. Compensation and Benefits This position may be offered at different levels depending on a candidate's combination of education and experience. The annual salary range is $$65,000 to $95,000 and may be adjusted based on the level of the role and the candidate's qualifications.
