Quality Control Chemist Temporary Job Type:
Full time (M-F 8 hr/day) ,1099 contractor, expected to last 3-4 months with a start date in May.

$60-$70/hr About Us Sea Dragon Energy is a commercial startup and veteran-owned company developing a process to generate sustainable aviation fuel. This project combines breakthrough technologies that extract carbon dioxide and hydrogen from seawater to synthesize jet fuel in distributed units while requiring no crude oil input.
Job Responsibilities:
This is a temporary position expected to last 3-4 months. Maintain an ethos of "
SAFETY FIRST
" at all times. You will be the lead chemist assisting in starting up a new quality control laboratory supporting an applied R D unit. Coordinate with on-site vendor representatives to assist with setup and troubleshooting of new laboratory equipment (gas chromatographs supporting standard gas chromatography (GC), refinery gas analysis, and simulated distillation, flash pt analyzer, cold property analyzer [cloud pt, freeze pt, dynamic and kinematic viscosities], auto titrators supporting Karl Fischer and pH analyses). Identify any gaps in equipment and supplies not already supplied and fill those gaps. Develop procedures for each analytical method using ASTMs as a basis. In particular, focus on ensuring that GC samples are prepared and tested appropriately and in a timely manner. Track and collate data and results into product quality reports. The chemist will be encouraged to determine an appropriate reporting format. Provide basic instruction and training to technicians and site engineer on how to run samples. Develop and maintain training documents and records. Properly dispose of laboratory-generated hazardous material in accordance with site hazard material handling procedures. Properly package and ship samples to a 3rd party laboratory for additional testing.
Minimum qualification requirements:
Legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship will not be considered. Bachelor's degree in chemistry (or similar) or higher. Graduate students will be considered for this role. Previous hands-on experience with GC in a laboratory setting is required. Additional qualifications that would help you succeed further: Previous experience developing GC methods. Previous experience with GC methods
ASTM D2887, ASTM
D7169, or
ASTM D7213.
Previous experience with Karl-Fischer titration, viscometers, hydrometers, flash point analyzers, and freezing point analyzers. Previous experience in a petrochemical laboratory setting or similar knowledge of petroleum refining.
