Job Description

Description Plant Therapy, located in Twin Falls, Idaho, is a dynamic company committed to impacting lives and helping everyone extract more from life's little moments. The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day operations of the analytical laboratory, ensuring smooth functioning and adherence to protocols. This is a very detail-oriented position that requires a lot of focus and concentration. It also comes with high levels of responsibility. To operate and maintain analytic instruments, including, but not limited to, GC-MS, FTIR, Polarimeter, Refractometer, and Densometer. Identify the constituent composition of essential oils of new samples for comparison to internal/external standards with untargeted GC analysis. Conduct routine and non-routine analysis of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished goods. To accurately label, organize, and responsibly store samples of raw materials and finished products. Support sample retention rotation quarterly. Assist in document control for samples received. Work directly with the Analytic Chemist/ Lab Manager on testing, analysis, sample preparations, and other projects as needed - parrot training. Conduct secondary research to inform understanding of raw materials and their chemical composition. Aid co-workers from Sourcing/Purchasing, Product Development, Quality Control, and Production with testing of materials/products to help their processes. Coordinate testing with 3rd party laboratories, manage the receival and redistribution of test reports via email and customer portal. Requirements Required Qualifications. Bachelor's degree in chemistry, botany, agriculture, or related science. Experience in an analytical laboratory setting. Experience with GC-MS, FTIR, Polarimeter, Densometer, Refractometer, and other instrumentation. Experience with oil-bearing herbs, woody plants, seeds, and fruit. Experience or understanding of industrial scale essential oil distillation. Strong attention to detail. An awareness of scientific methods and reasoning.
