In this role, you'll help establish, optimize, and scale analytical methods for the extraction, isolation, characterization, and quantification of plant-derived metabolites using HPLC, wet chemistry assays, QC testing methodologies, and other analytical tools. You will also help build and refine systems for data management, inventory tracking, and analytical result reporting to support reproducibility, scalability, and regulatory readiness. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on analytical problem solving, developing new assays, and continuously expanding analytical capabilities in a fast-paced R D environment. You'll be instrumental in ensuring GALY's Science team has reliable, reproducible analytical pipelines as we scale our impact in sustainable biomanufacturing. Responsibilities Analytical Method Development & Execution Develop and execute HPLC methods for the analysis of plant primary and secondary metabolites, such as free amino acids, and phenylpropanoids Perform and refine methods for a broad range of analytical chemistry techniques, including wet chemistry assays, QC testing, sample preparation, and quantitative analytical workflows Develop, improve, and standardize new analytical assays to support evolving R D and production needs Contribute analytical insights to upstream and downstream process development efforts Instrumentation & Laboratory Operations Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting for HPLC systems and other analytical laboratory equipment to ensure reliable operation, data quality, and minimal instrument downtime Ensure the long-term sustainability, scalability, and robustness of in-house analytical capabilities Maintain organized laboratory workflows and support efficient day-to-day analytical operations Data Management & Laboratory Systems Build and maintain systems for analytical data management, sample tracking, and inventory control to support laboratory operations and traceability Develop standardized workflows and templates for analytical result reporting, data review, and cross-functional communication Improve laboratory operational efficiency refine processes for data capture, recordkeeping, and assay documentation Support implementation and maintenance of SOPs, digital tools, and quality systems to ensure reproducibility, compliance, and audit readiness Regulatory Compliance & Best Practices Implement and uphold best practices in Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Identify opportunities to improve analytical workflows, operational efficiency, and laboratory systems Stay current with emerging analytical techniques and contribute to continuous learning and innovation within the team Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Sciences, or related field, with 4+ years of experience in analytical chemistry and laboratory operations in a research, industrial, or regulated environment Demonstrated experience in developing and executing HPLC methods for metabolite analysis and quantitative workflows, along with practical experience with a broad range of analytical techniques, including wet chemistry assays and QC testing Strong working knowledge of analytical instrumentation maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting, with the ability to support reliable and scale lab operations Experience building or improving systems for analytical data management, sample traceability, laboratory documentation, SOP development, and digital lab workflows Strong understanding of GLP/GMP principles, data integrity, and analytical documentation requirements, with the ability to work independently, collaborate cross-functionally, and contribute to continuous improvement and assay innovation Key Competencies Independent and proactive with strong technical ownership Highly analytical with attention to precision and reproducibility Effective communicator with the ability to train and mentor others Organized and rigorous with documentation and protocol adherence Curious, adaptive, and open to continuous learning and innovation What We Offer A collaborative, high-impact environment at the forefront of plant cell culture and biomanufacturing Full-time benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage Life and disability insurance Generous paid vacation and holidays Opportunities for professional development and leadership GALY is an equal opportunity employer.
