Job Description:
SciAps, Inc. is a Boston area instrumentation company specializing in high performance portable analytical instruments. Our mission is to provide durable, field-tested, portable instruments to identify any compound, any mineral, any element - anyplace. Current product portfolio consists of LIBS, XRF and NIR technologies. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to take on the role of Applications Scientist. The ideal candidate has a strong desire to devote their scientific talent to a wide variety of industry and academic applications through cutting-edge handheld instrumentation.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Become an expert in SciAps' analytical algorithms and calibration techniques for both XRF and LIBS products. Further develop and optimize these approaches to produce higher performing instrumentation that exceed our customers' needs Support sales team with demonstrations and trainings for technically challenging applications Support customer service team when troubleshooting advanced analytical issues Create documentation for calibration processes and analytical Quality Assurance procedures. Ensure the accuracy of documentation as well. Provide prompt calibration and analytical support to manufacturing department as required Characterize and refine new applications and custom calibrations. Write application reports and share/present to our customers and internally within
SciAps Skills and Experience:
At least 3-5 years of experience, ideally within instrumentation business Self-starter with superior analytical and experimental skills Strong communication and presentation skills Ability to deal with a dynamic environment where priorities can change frequently depending on the needs of the business
Education:
Required:
BS Physics, Chemistry, Geology, or other hard science
Travel:
Up to 25% Travel required Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Expected pay range is between $60k-$100k per year
