Full Job Description Job Summary:
A postdoctoral research position is available in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Wayne State University Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences to support the development of small-molecule targeted therapies using structure-based drug design approaches for cancer treatment. We are seeking a highly motivated synthetic organic or medicinal chemist to join our interdisciplinary drug discovery program focused on the preclinical development of novel anticancer therapeutics. Our research integrates medicinal chemistry, biochemical and biophysical characterization, cellular pharmacology, and in vivo efficacy studies.

Qualifications, Responsibilities and Skills:
Applicants must hold a PhD in synthetic organic chemistry, total synthesis, or medicinal chemistry. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in multi-step organic synthesis, synthetic route design, troubleshooting complex synthetic challenges, and structure-activity relationship (SAR) analysis. Proficiency in analytical and characterization techniques including HPLC, NMR, and mass spectrometry is required. The successful candidate should be capable of managing multiple research projects in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and should be interested in working at the interface of chemistry and biology. The successful candidate will contribute to projects focused on the discovery and development of novel anticancer agents. Responsibilities include the design and synthesis of new analogues based on lead compounds, optimization of biologically active molecules, and collaboration on cellular and animal studies to evaluate therapeutic efficacy. The candidate will also assist with biochemical and cellular assays for compound characterization and validation.
