Job Description

Chem-Trend, a company of the Freudenberg Group, is a global leader in the development, manufacture, and marketing of specialized release agents, purging compounds, paper impregnation chemicals, and other process chemical specialties and additives, with manufacturing and R & D operations in North and South America, Europe, India, and Asia that are supported by its headquarters in Michigan, USA. Chem-Trend has a singular focus of providing innovative solutions for the die casting, polyurethane, rubber, composites, tire, thermoplastic, wood composite, and paper impregnation industries. Develop new products and improve existing technology, and/or perform analytical methods and interpret their results as needed to satisfy all analytical requests from the company's worldwide R&D operations. Provide technical support to customers, Sales, Plant Operations, QA/QC, and Purchasing. Chemist II Responsibilities Develop new and improved products to meet customer demands in a rapid manner. Interact with suppliers to identify and qualify raw materials. Provide technical support to all company departments including Sales, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Supply Chain, and Quality Control. Support Technical Sales by attending product trials at customer sites. Create detailed technical reports by organizing and summarizing work. Characterize, handle, label, inspect, and dispose of hazardous waste in accordance with environmental regulations. Serve as a mentor to less experienced technical staff Qualifications Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field. 3-5 years of industrial experience, including product development and formulation. Knowledge in polymers, lubricants, coatings, emulsions, and surface chemistry. Knowledge of industrial manufacturing processes. Wood & Paper industry knowledge a plus.
