Junior Chemist Tnemec Company, Inc. - 3.9 North Kansas City, MO Job Details Full-time 2 hours ago Qualifications Chemical handling safety procedures Bachelor's degree Chemical safety protocols Full Job Description Position Summary The Jr. Chemist is responsible for supporting the development of new products, improving existing formulations, and assisting with process analysis. This role performs professional laboratory work involving the research, testing, and evaluation of raw materials and products. The Jr. Chemist contributes to innovation initiatives that address market needs and support overall company growth. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Research and communicate with suppliers regarding the use and suitability of raw materials for development projects. Formulate and prepare new or improved products for evaluation and testing under the guidance of a Chemist or Senior Chemist. Prioritize and manage development projects based on business needs, available resources, and timeline requirements. Operate laboratory equipment and train personnel, as appropriate, in proper operation and safety procedures. Manufacture laboratory formulations and prepare samples or panels for internal and external testing. Conduct chemical and physical tests to evaluate product performance and characteristics. Identify and coordinate external testing as needed for specialized requirements. Verify master formulations in the database management system once formulations are finalized. Establish quality control specifications for all new products prior to release. Maintain accurate laboratory records and ensure documentation standards are followed. Lead or assist Technical Services, Analytical Laboratory, Product Performance, and Purchasing through new product development and product launch activities. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment while promoting safety and housekeeping expectations. Respond to unique or specialized requests from internal customers and Product Development stakeholders.

Tnemec representatives (limited interaction) Raw material vendors and suppliers Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to develop effective formulations and evaluate processes. Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Education & Training Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related scientific field required. Additional coursework or experience in coatings, polymers, or materials science preferred. Hazardous, Safety & Environmental Requirements This position requires strict adherence to hazardous material handling protocols, laboratory safety procedures, and environmental compliance standards. All associates will receive comprehensive training in safety practices and hazard mitigation relevant to laboratory operations.
