May 19th - August 11th (Full-Time) The R D Summer Intern will assist the Research & Development department with short- and medium-term projects focusing on the application of chemistry and material science to innovative packaging materials and processes. This entry-level, full-time role provides hands-on experience working with various polymers, coatings, inks, and thermoforming processes and systems. The internship will involve practical lab reporting, data tracking, and assisting in general development activities in our pilot plant and R D labs.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in laboratory testing, characterization, and evaluation of innovative materials and processes. Support short and medium-term R D projects under the guidance of the Product Development Manager. Compile, analyze, and retrieve production and lab data to support product trials and developments. Assist in the preparation and organization of upcoming testing projects. Maintain detailed and accurate records of experiments, procedures, and trial outcomes. Collaborate with team members to identify troubleshooting steps during material testing. Organize data records to ensure synergy between pilot plant operations and R D activities. Provide and summarize background research to supplement upcoming trials and tests.TECHNICAL & PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES
Project Management:
Ability to assist in the execution and tracking of minor R D projects.Interpersonal/Communication:
Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.Technical Knowledge:
Basic understanding of chemical principles, polymer physical properties, and behaviors.Efficiency & Quality:
Strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize tasks, and capable of basic data analysis.Safety:
Demonstrated commitment to upholding safe laboratory practices.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in a technical field. Basic laboratory experience or completion of relevant coursework (e.g., Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Lab programs). Knowledge of MS Office and database applications.ADA - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Must be able to: Work a full-time schedule (40 hours/week) for the duration of the internship. Stand and/or walk occasionally in a lab or plant environment.
