The Associate Chemist, Grease Development supports the formulation, testing, and optimization of lubricating greases to meet performance, quality, and regulatory requirements. This role involves hands-on laboratory work to develop new grease products and improve existing formulations, including thickener systems, base oils, and additive packages. The Associate Chemist conducts bench-scale experiments, evaluates physical and performance properties (e.g., consistency, thermal stability, oxidation, wear, corrosion), and documents results in accordance with internal standards. Working closely with senior chemists, manufacturing, quality, and tribology teams, the Associate Chemist assists in scale-up, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental procedures Associate R D Chemist Responsibilities Undertake projects, guided by R D Chemists, to develop new grease formulations. Produce laboratory and pilot scale batches of grease and oils to support new product development. Complete testing on samples as required to ensure products meet customer requirements. Research grease formulation chemistry and applications, applying learnings to new projects. Keep organized and detailed records of laboratory work, using laboratory notebooks, electronic media and SAP. Preparation and presentation of scientific reports based on laboratory work. Assist in maintaining laboratory equipment. Coordinate with R D Chemist and Field Staff external pilot and or field trials of product technology. Qualifications BSc or MS Degree in Chemistry, Tribology Engineering, Polymer Science, Material Science or related field of study (preferred). 0 to 2 years of experience in industrial research. Proficiency with computer systems including Microsoft 365, Lotus Notes, SAP- preferred. Ability to learn and operate a wide variety of laboratory equipment. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Well-developed interpersonal skills. Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
