Job Description:
SUMMARY Supervises operations of unit by setting priorities and enforcing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Supervises operations of unit by setting priorities and enforcing regulations, internal policies and procedures Develops materials and maintains lab equipment for instruction, demonstration and general laboratory use Assures all laboratory equipment and instrumentations are functioning properly and coordinates maintenance or repair as needed Selects, hires, trains, coaches, develops, and manages the performance of assigned staff Plans, organizes and implements procedures required to effectively operate the laboratory and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction Monitors unit workload to ensure equity and appropriate use of financial resources Prepares departmental budgets and assists with the annual budget planning process Manages operational needs and monitors and controls expenses within the budget Collaborates with College-wide committee(s) of peers to update and review lab safety guidelines and rules Reviews weekly inventory of supplies and orders as necessary Researches and evaluates new equipment for purchase decisions Assures that all personnel are following safety protocol in compliance with local/state/federal regulatory requirements, particularly while experiments are in progress Maintains accurate, and up to date Safety Data Sheets (SDS) in appropriate data bases as specified by the Compliance and Risk Management department Collaboratively assists faculty regarding laboratory preparations Collaborates with faculty to coordinate and optimize laboratory facilities Assists with the planning and execution of the chemistry laboratories transition to the new STEM Center Performs other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
Bachelor's degree in a Science-related field Significant related experience may substitute for education Minimum of two years of demonstrated experience in a science laboratory setting Demonstrated experience supervising, planning, assigning, scheduling and ensuring the quality of the work of others Demonstrated experience monitoring a business area's budget Demonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or team Demonstrated experience in a role requiring diverse problem solving methods in a variety of situations KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and
ABILITIES

Target Starting Salary Range:
$45,000 to $55,000 The final offer for the successful candidate is targeted to fall within this range but will be based upon an assessment of internal equity, the unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications in relation to the minimum and/or preferred job requirement(s).
