Job Description
Actalent is hiring for an Associate Scientist role in Thousand Oaks, CA! Job Description The Associate Scientist in Attribute Sciences Process Development supports large molecule development by performing analytical testing and data review focused on formulation components and process-related impurities, with a strong emphasis on surfactants and excipients. This hybrid role, requiring regular onsite presence, works closely with process development teams to generate, interpret, and communicate analytical data that supports both clinical and commercial programs. Responsibilities Perform analytical testing of formulation components and process-related impurities, with particular emphasis on surfactants and excipients. Generate high-quality analytical data to support large molecule development activities across clinical and commercial programs. Review, analyze, and summarize analytical data to support process and formulation development decisions. Document analytical methods and support method execution in accordance with internal standards and good laboratory practices. Contribute to the transfer of analytical methods to internal or external laboratories, including Quality Control laboratories. Collaborate closely with cross-functional process development teams to align analytical activities with program needs. Communicate experimental results, data interpretations, and conclusions to cross-functional partners in a clear, concise, and timely manner. Maintain accurate laboratory records and ensure that analytical activities comply with applicable quality and regulatory expectations, including GMP-related practices where relevant. Essential Skills Master's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field, OR a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field with 2 years of relevant experience. Hands-on experience performing analytical testing of formulation components and process-related impurities. Experience working with surfactants and excipients in the context of large molecule or biopharmaceutical development. Ability to review, analyze, and summarize complex analytical data to inform development decisions. Experience supporting analytical method execution and documentation. Familiarity with method transfer processes to internal or external laboratories, including Quality Control environments. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present data and conclusions clearly to cross-functional teams. Understanding of GMP principles and their application to analytical laboratory work. Additional Skills & Qualifications Educational background in a scientific discipline closely related to Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Analytical Chemistry. Experience supporting both clinical and commercial development programs in the biopharmaceutical or large molecule space. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional environment with process development and Quality Control teams. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation and data management. Comfort working in a hybrid environment that combines onsite laboratory work with remote data analysis and documentation. Work Environment This is a hybrid role that requires working onsite 3-4 times per week in a laboratory-focused environment. The Associate Scientist works in an analytical laboratory setting that supports large molecule development, performing hands-on testing of formulation components and process-related impurities, particularly surfactants and excipients. The role involves regular collaboration with process development and Quality Control teams, combining bench work with data analysis, documentation, and method transfer activities. The environment emphasizes adherence to quality and GMP-related practices, clear communication, and timely delivery of analytical results to support clinical and commercial programs. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Thousand Oaks, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $32.00/hr.
