- Full-time About the Role AmeriPouch LLC is a Dallas-based manufacturer of nicotine and nutraceutical oral pouch products.
We are looking for an experienced, driven R D Scientist to take the lead on formulation development, lab operations, and customer-facing product programs. This is a high-ownership role for someone who is equally comfortable behind a lab bench and in a room with a customer and someone who can translate technical work into clear, confident communication to move projects from concept to commercialization. What You'll Own Formulation & Development Lead formulation development for new nicotine and nutraceutical pouch products from brief through scale-up, including ingredient selection, prototype development, specification setting and manufacturing troubleshooting Own the technical review of raw material submissions, COAs, and supplier qualification data in support of new product launches Maintain and improve existing formulations in response to ingredient changes, cost optimization initiatives, or customer feedback Design and execute product stability, compatibility, and sensory evaluation studies; interpret data and translate findings into actionable decisions Customer-Facing & Project Leadership Serve as the primary technical point of contact for brand customers during product development leading kickoff calls, responding to formulation questions, and guiding customers through the development process with confidence and clarity Translate customer briefs and brand requirements into actionable internal development plans Prepare and present technical summaries, formulation rationales, and project status updates for both internal leadership and external customers Lead cross-functional development projects, coordinating between lab, operations, quality, and regulatory teams to keep programs on schedule Lab Operations Oversee day-to-day lab operations including workflow prioritization, equipment maintenance, and supply management Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior lab staff; serve as a resource for SOPs, troubleshooting, and best practices Ensure all lab activities are conducted in compliance with GMP requirements, documented accurately, and aligned with AmeriPouch quality system standards Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of lab SOPs, test methods, and documentation systems Support regulatory and quality submissions as needed, including data compilation for PMTA-related activities Qualifications Required 5+ years of experience in formulation, R D, or product development in a food, nutraceutical, pharma, or adjacent manufacturing environment Demonstrated ability to lead projects independently from development through commercialization Experience in a customer-facing or client-service technical role; comfortable presenting, explaining technical concepts, and managing relationships with external stakeholders Strong working knowledge of GMP principles and quality documentation practices Excellent written and verbal communication skills: you can write a clear technical summary and present it to a non-technical audience without missing a beat High attention to detail with strong organizational and prioritization skills Preferred Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific discipline Experience with oral pouch, tobacco, nicotine, or nutraceutical product formulation Familiarity with FDA regulatory frameworks including 21 CFR and PMTA processes Prior experience supervising or mentoring lab staff Physical Requirements & Work Environment This role requires the ability and willingness to meet the following physical and environmental conditions: Lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 25 lbs on a regular basis Stand, walk, and perform manual tasks for extended periods during a full shift Work in a manufacturing and laboratory environment that may include elevated noise levels; hearing protection will be provided where required Consume product samples as part of sensory evaluation and quality testing activities, including products potentially containing nicotine, caffeine, and other nutraceutical ingredients. Candidates must be comfortable with this requirement and not have contraindicated health conditions.
