Discover Impactful Work The Process Development (PD) Chemist is responsible for developing and optimizing manufacturing processes in the Chemistry production area meeting specific quality, schedule, and cost requirements, following all applicable safety and regulatory requirements. Site based in Milwaukee, A Day in the life Follow established methods and standard operating procedures Work independently or within a team to troubleshoot problems, recommend and execute improvements in laboratory operations and equipment use Develop new processes, scale-ups, and test methods Participate in Practical Process Improvements (PPI) as needed The position is also responsible for any other duties apparent or assigned Keys to Success Education BS degree in Science (Chemistry or Biochemistry preferred) Experience 3+ years of demonstrated experience with large scale (Kilogram) manufacturing, involving heterocyclic organic chemical synthesis and purification. Nucleic acid chemistry experience, preferred Hands on experience in analytical instrumentation including HPLC Strong understanding of analytical data, troubleshooting, and method development Ability to regularly handle chemicals, solvents, and potentially hazardous substances Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to verbally communicate, read and write in English Computer literate (minimally email, word and data processing, ChemDraw or equivalent) Must be available to work overtime, including weekends as project schedule wqarrants Be mechanically adept and able to apply mechanical fundamentals to properly operate, the equipment within their area of responsibility Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distant vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, and differentiate colors The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, and crawl and frequently lift and/or move 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds with assistance Understand and comply with RCRA Standards by successfully completing initial training for Hazardous Waste Handling within 90 days of date of hire.
