Job Description
Clinical Research Coordinator I - Emergency Medicine Overview We are seeking a motivated Clinical Research Coordinator I (CRC I) to support a fast-paced Emergency Medicine Clinical Research Unit (EM-CRU). This role is ideal for someone with prior clinical research experience who enjoys hands-on, patient-facing work in a dynamic clinical environment. The EM-CRU has successfully led 17 clinical research studies and enrolled over 2,000 patients , contributing meaningful advancements in emergency medicine. Key Responsibilities Perform patient recruitment, screening, and enrollment in an Emergency Department setting Obtain informed consent and ensure compliance with study protocols Conduct accurate and timely data entry and documentation Serve as a patient-facing coordinator , interacting directly with study participants ("boots on the ground") Execute the full lifecycle of study coordination (A-Z), including: Recruitment and screening Consent process Study visit coordination Data collection and quality assurance Collaborate with investigators, patients, and clinical staff to ensure smooth study operations Support a variety of therapeutic areas and study types depending on acuity level Team Structure 4 Clinical Research Coordinators 2 Project Managers Direct mentorship and structured onboarding, including teach-back training with leadership Qualifications Prior experience in clinical research coordination required Demonstrated ability to independently: Recruit patients Conduct informed consent Screen participants per protocol Strong understanding of clinical research processes and regulatory standards Additional Skills Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities Confidence to push back and advocate appropriately with Principal Investigators when needed Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Additional Information Work environment: Emergency Department (outpatient-focused research from ER setting) Exposure to a wide range of studies and therapeutic areas Highly hands-on role with real-time patient interaction Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Palo Alto, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
