Duties Description Laboratory Assessors (Clinical) (LA-C) inspect facilities performing tissue banking activities within New York State and outside the State. LA-Cs are responsible for conducting on-site evaluations of staff qualifications and procedures, including the evaluation of facility standard operating procedure and review of records; record keeping; documenting findings in descriptive narratives and evaluation reports, and performing follow-up activities; investigating complaints and incidents; as well as general program administration. The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy.
Minimum Qualifications Open Competitive:
Bachelor's degree in medical technology, or a chemical or biological science, AND three years of post bachelor's professional experience in a laboratory that tests clinical specimens or environmental samples, or tissue bank, or blood bank or physician practice. A master's degree in one of the above fields may substitute for one year of professional experience. A doctoral degree in one of the above fields may substitute for two years of professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of state and federal tissue banking regulations. Ability to apply knowledge from tissue bank settings to regulatory enforcement and compliance activities. Experience with quality assurance and auditing of regulated entities, cGMP or cGTP. Two additional years' relevant experience. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Additional comments regarding the vacancy. Additional Comments Dependent upon the initial assignment or subsequent reassignment of this position satisfactory background checks may be required. Additionally, exposure to potentially hazardous substances may be involved with this position; the selected candidate may be required to wear personal protective clothing and equipment, and may undergo pre-employment and/or periodic health evaluations and receive specific immunizations. There is an expectation that the selected candidate will be at the Albany office the remainder of time when not conducting on-site surveys. This position is part of the
NYS HELPS
program. No examination is required. This position may require travel throughout New York State including overnights to areas not served by public transportation.
