Job Description

The Department of Neurological Surgery, the Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC) and the O'Donnell Brain Institute (OBI) are jointly recruiting a Director of the SCCC Neuro-Oncology Translational Research Program. This leader will have a primary faculty appointment in the Department of Neurological Surgery at UT Southwestern that is aligned with the candidate's training and expertise and will report academically to the respective Department Chair and/or Center Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide the overall leadership and academic vision for growth and development of a multi-disciplinary Neuro- Oncology Translational Research Program of national reputation. Stimulate and lead laboratory and clinical research in brain tumor etiology, pathophysiology, and treatment. In partnership with UTSW departments, lead and support the recruitment of laboratory and clinical investigators in neuro-oncology. Participate in mentoring of laboratory and clinical investigators in brain tumor research. Develop research partnerships with other academic institutions, pharma, and biotech to enhance programmatic translational goals. Secure an adequate portfolio of investigator-initiated and trials with industry partners, focused on the needs of patients in the institution's catchment area. Participate in the development of intra- and inter-programmatic interactions at the SCCC and OBI relevant to brain tumor research. Sustain efforts in advocacy and outreach with a focus in Brain Tumors.
