The Department of Biological Sciences at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites applications for a non-tenure-track faculty position as a Research Professor in the areas of Human Genetics, starting in spring or summer 2026. The appointments will be for 12 months, and the position can be renewed for a maximum of 3 years; renewal beyond 3 years will depend on the candidate's ability to secure extramural funding. We are seeking highly collaborative scientists with a strong background in human genetics and functional genomics. Applicants with expertise in human diseases, including (but not limited to) Alzheimer's disease and related dementias and metabolic disorders as well as applicants using human subjects and AI/Machine Learning for data integration are strongly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate is expected to participate in collaborative research programs across the Colleges of Science, Health Sciences, Engineering, and the School of Pharmacy; secure extramural funding independently or collaboratively; publish in high-impact peer-reviewed journals; and contribute to the training of undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral/research associates.Job Requirements:
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in a relevant field and have at least ten years of faculty or equivalent professional experience. Applicants must demonstrate a strong record of research productivity and clear potential to secure external funding. Competitive applicants will provide documented evidence of the following: 1. Demonstrated success in collaborative research and peer-reviewed publications 2. Grant writing & funding Experience writing or contributing to research grants, instrumentation grants, or collaborative proposals 3. Ability to work effectively within diverse, multidisciplinary teams of faculty and students Commitment to involving students in research, mentoring, and publication opportunities 4. Expertise in aging and dementia research 5. Expertise in human genetics and functional genomics 6. Strong communication & reporting skills 7. Successful mentoring experiencesAdditional Information:
