Full Job Description Overview:
Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Research Specialist supporting our office in Norfolk. •Please take this quick survey once you've submitted your resume to complete the application process: Clinical Research PI Link •If you have completed the survey before, even for another position, please do not take it again.
Responsibilities:
Perform study-related tasks in accordance with protocol requirements, including, but not limited to Quality of Life assessments, vital signs, ECGs, and other protocol-specific tasks. Collect source data from referring physicians and hospitals that is critical for determination of study eligibility and ongoing patient care. Maintain regular communication with Clinical Research Coordinator II/Senior and/or Clinical Research Nurse in relation to assigned tasks and in compliance with study protocols. Participate in required training and education programs, as well as monitoring and auditing activities. Participate in scheduling patient visits in accordance with patient plan of treatment and study protocol requirements. Perform the preparation, collection, processing, and shipment of lab specimens to central vendors in accordance with study lab manuals. Will be required to complete IATA training. Responsible for study lab kit inventory management. Travel to other research offices and area hospitals, as needed to assist with study-related tasks and courier critical kits, samples.
Qualifications:
Minimum Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities) Five years of experience in a clinical setting as a Medical Assistant, Pharmacy Tech, Patient Care Assistant, Phlebotomist, or equivalent discipline. Associate degree preferred. Specialized Knowledge/Skills Excellent communication skills Excellent organizational skills Strong ability to multi-task Excellent time management skills Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with multiple people on varying levels High level of attention to detail Able to work in a fast-paced environment Valid driver's license and access to private transportation
