Job Description

The Clinical Research Budget Negotiator plays a crucial role in the financial management of industry sponsored, federal, State of Florida, and privately funded clinical trials at Moffitt Cancer Center. This position is responsible for negotiating clinical trial budgets and payment terms to support an efficient activation and amendment process, ensuring that patients have access to cutting-edge clinical trials. The Clinical Research Budget Negotiator ensures that budgets align with institutional financial policies, fair market value (FMV), and regulatory requirements while supporting efficient trial activation and amendment processing. This role requires strong collaboration with principal investigators (PIs), research teams, finance, legal, and sponsors to ensure the financial viability and compliance of clinical trials.
Ideal Candidate:
Experience in clinical research (industry/pharmaceutical and/or federal grants), billing compliance, research contract management, billing, coding, and/or revenue recognition/integrity. Experience in Coverage Analysis Experience in medical coding or billing Knowledge of healthcare compliance and federal regulations related to clinical Advanced experience in Excel (V-Lookups, Pivot Tables, Index, etc.) Strong negotiation skills with the ability to advocate for institutional financial interests. Understanding of clinical trial billing, fair market value principles, and Medicare Coverage Analysis. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail in budget development and financial forecasting Ability to work cross-functionally with PIs, research teams, legal, and sponsors. Bachelor's Degree Business Administration, Nursing, Finance, Healthcare, or related field preffered
Minimum Experience Required:
Minimum two (2) years of experience in a clinical setting, clinical research, health insurance, revenue cycle or relevant negotiation experience.
Minimum Skills/Specialized Training Required:
Ability to manage multiple projects at one time, and deliver expected products Understanding of calculating percentages and basic math. High reading comprehension Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written in a professional environment Able to interact with a variety of professionals and team members in multiple hospital departments as well as external sponsors Minimum Education Associate's Degree in Business Administration, Nursing, Finance, Healthcare, or related field
