Position Description Advertised Job Summary The University of South Carolina College of Nursing invites applications for a full-time, on-site Research Program Manager To provide strategic and operational leadership for the Center for Advancing Chronic Care Oues through Research and Innovation (ACORN) portfolio of funded and unfunded research activities. This role exercises independent judgement over day‑to‑day administrative and research operations, regulatorypliance, grant management, direct personnel supervision, and coordination among investigators, staff,munity partners, and funding agencies. The Research Program Manager serves as the primary liaison between principal investigators, institutional offices, and external stakeholders to ensure research excellence,pliance, and sustainability. This role provides mentorship to early‑career faculty, doctoral students, and interdisciplinary research teams by independently advising on regulatorypliance, NIH documents, implementation, and dissemination. The position strengthens CON research capacity, ensuringpliance, integrity, and scholarly productivity, and contributes to research infrastructure and center‑level fiscal oversight. This position operates at a professional, managerial level with direct supervision of research staff, fiduciary, research and regulatory responsibility. Job Duties Job Duty ACORN Center Research Operations and Fiscal Management Coordinate day-to-day administrative operations of the ACORN Center including managing meetings, agenda development, facilitation, and follow-up of action items. Develop streamlined, codified processes to enhance the infrastructure of the ACORN Center. Administer and oversee the ACORN pilot program activities. Exercise fiscal oversight authority for the ACORN Center, including monitoring budgets and day-to-day expenditures to ensure alignment with institutional requirements. Lead the onboarding, training, and mentorship of new research coordinators across the ACORN Center. Establish, enforce, and monitor project‑level milestones, participant accrual, timelines, and performance indicators across the Center's research portfolio and identify systemic barriers and implement corrective strategies for evidence‑based improvements. Develop, deliver and coordinate workshops and training on Institutional Review Board (IRB) processes, National Institutes of Health (NIH) forms, e.g., Science, Clinical trial registration. Serve as the designated fund custodian for research participant incentives andmunity partner honorariums. Exercise supervisory oversight on the development of IRB protocols for ACORN members with a focus on early‑career investigators and doctoral students. Independently advise ACORN investigators, doctoral students, and interdisciplinary research teams on study timeline, regulatory strategy, implementation planning, and risk mitigation Serve as the primary liaison between investigators and regulatory bodies, streamlining approvals and resolvingplex regulatory issues. Promote best practices in data sharing, transparency, reproducibility, and responsible conduct of research. Guide ACORN members in the development of grant reports and CT.gov. submissions. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 40 Job Duty Research Project Oversight and Research Team Supervision Oversee and independently manage the day-to-day execution of research projects conducted by the SmartState Chair and oversee IRB protocol adnce. Directly train, supervise, and advise investigators, doctoral students, interdisciplinary research teams, research staff, and students working under the oversight of the SMARTState Chair on study timelines, regulatory strategies, implementation planning, and risk mitigation. Assign, prioritize, and evaluate staff work to ensurepliance and timely execution. Lead the onboarding, training, and performance evaluation for supervised staff Develop research recruitment plans Submit IRB protocols, amendments and continuing reviews Implement and oversee informed consent and data collections processes Oversee the administration of participant incentives Oversee the integration andpliance with ClinicalTrials.gov, ONCore, and other institutional research platforms Complete NIH reports Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 30 Job Duty Scholarly Productivity & Dissemination Implement strategicmunications to elevate the visibility of the research and scholarly productivity of ACORN Center investigators across the College, University, Community and National levels. Provide guidance on dissemination activities of ACORN members, including manuscript development, reports, and abstract submission. Guide ACORN investigators through manuscript submissions to PubMed Central and related repositories.
