JOB SUMMARY A
Project Manager of Clinical Research is responsible for overseeing all non‑regulatory aspects of clinical study start‑up, ensuring operational readiness and timely activation of research projects. This role manages site feasibility assessments, develops and negotiates study budgets, facilitates clinical trial contracting, and coordinates value analysis requests while closely tracking activation milestones and performance metrics. The Project Manager collaborates extensively with regulatory and clinical research coordinator colleagues to ensure alignment with study timelines and proactively addresses barriers to activation, serving as a central point of coordination to streamline processes and support successful study launch across clinical research teams.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required Education Bachelor's Degree in related field. Experience 5 years experience in clinical research, including at least three years‿ experience in project management, which may include management of specific clinical trials or clinical trials-related programs. Preferred Education Advanced degree preferred. Experience Prior experience in the UTSW clinical research mentoring program is highly desirable, and participation in the UTSW clinical research mentoring program may count as additional experience.
JOB DUTIES
For new research projects or programs, define project/program scope with the PI, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with the Clinical Research Manager, Clinical Department Administrator, and Vice Chair/Chair; assist PI to develop project plans, timelines, and associated communications documents; clearly and timely communicate project expectations to team members and management. Estimate research resources and personnel needed to achieve project/program goals, and work with CRM to help allocate from within the department or externally. Set and continually manage research project expectations with PIs and other team members; delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel; identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the research team or program; identify and manage related issues. Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools; track project milestones and deliverables; develop and deliver progress reports. Compose, edit, or create research personnel training documents. Align business processes with systems changes and provide a mechanism to deliver information to staff and/or faculty as necessary. Develop best practices and tools for research project execution and management. Work with PIs on scientific writing in grant proposal development, IRB development. Coordinate execution of clinical trials following trial guidelines. May supervise staff in performance of duties. Performs other duties as assigned.
