Entry Level Environmental Planner - Pasadena If you're early in your career and excited to build a strong foundation in environmental planning, this entry-level Environmental Planner role is designed for you. As an Environmental Planner at HELIX Environmental Planning, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting real projects that shape communities and protect natural resources—while learning directly from experienced professionals. This entry-level Environmental Planner position offers structured mentorship, exposure to multidisciplinary experts, and clear growth pathways. The Environmental Planner works in a collaborative environment with a minimum in-office schedule of three days per week (up to five days in-office during the first 60-90 days), balancing learning, teamwork, and flexibility. Day in the Life As an entry-level Environmental Planner , your day may include researching environmental regulations, assisting with
CEQA/NEPA
documents, coordinating with biologists, GIS specialists, and planners, and supporting project teams. The Environmental Planner role is hands-on, varied, and ideal for someone eager to learn by doing while contributing to meaningful work across Southern California. What You'll Do The Environmental Planner I will: Assist senior staff with
CEQA/NEPA
compliance documents and technical studies Support preparation of proposals, contract amendments, and invoices Coordinate with internal teams and subconsultants to support project delivery Support technical editing and production of environmental documents Participate in meetings and agency or client interactions alongside senior staff Compensation $26-$30 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. Requirements:
Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in environmental studies, environmental science, geography, natural science, environmental engineering, public planning, business, or a related field Knowledge of California's environmental and regulatory setting gained through coursework, internships, volunteer work, or early professional experience Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel Strong written and verbal communication skills Preferred Requirements Master's degree in a related field Entry-level experience assisting with CEQA and/or NEPA documents Familiarity with California environmental regulations through direct experience
