Job Summary Reporting to the Director of the Center for Environmental Inquiry and Sustainability Programs (Director), the Associate Director of the Center for Environmental Inquiry and Sustainability Programs (Associate Director) is responsible for overseeing research, education and land management activities on university natural lands, and supports the Director in achieving the larger mission of CEI. In conjunction with the Director, the Associate Director assists with setting long-term goals and strategies, identifies and implements priority projects, and monitors the outcomes of natural lands, supervising staff, students and volunteers. Key Qualifications This position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental management, including 3 years of progressively responsible and applicable management and/or supervisory experience. Bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental studies, biology, education or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience to provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. A M.S. degree and higher education experience is highly preferred. Experience in outdoor education, interpretation or volunteer management is highly preferred. Experience in restoration management techniques at nature preserves or similar natural areas, including management of invasive species is required. A current CPR and Wilderness First Aid certification is highly preferred. Intermediate proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), and at least beginning proficiency in Geographic Information System (GIS) or other spatial data analysis software is required. Knowledge of Google Suite and Peoplesoft is preferred. The incumbent must possess and/or obtain and tafter maintain a California Driver's License valid for the operation and maintenance of any vehicle or equipment. Salary and Benefits Starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and is anticipated to be in the range of $5,000 to $7,000 a month. This position is a member of the Management Personnel Plan and serves at the pleasure of the President. This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 15 paid holidays are offered each year and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year.
