Role Description The Environmental Planner will support a range of planning and permitting projects related to water resources, infrastructure, and natural resource management. the Environmental Planner will perform complex environmental planning, permitting, compliance, and lands management work focused on operational and Capital Improvement Program (CIP). Day-to-day tasks include conducting environmental research and analysis, supporting preparation of CEQA/NEPA and related environmental impact assessments, and contributing to land use and resource planning studies. The Environmental Planner will participate in data collection and synthesis, support regulatory compliance and permitting efforts, and help prepare maps, figures, and presentations in collaboration with GIS and engineering staff. The role may also include participation in meetings with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies, as well as assisting with project documentation, schedules, and quality control. The position will be required to be on-site in Moccasin, California for a minimum of 4x days a week. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Urban/Regional Planning, Environmental Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree is a plus. Minimum of 2 years of experience in relevant field Knowledge of federal land permitting instruments, special use authorizations, and easements. Knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental laws and regulations. Knowledge of cultural resources preservation, protection, and management practices. Experience with lands and resources management and planning. Experience with environmental permitting and compliance for utility operations and maintenance activities. Knowledge of archival research methods and records management. Proficiency in GIS, database management, and environmental analysis. Experience managing multidisciplinary technical teams. Requires knowledge of environmental and land use planning principles; environmental review and regulatory compliance processes; statistical and research methods; and applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Knowledge of NEPA and related environmental review processes, including experience supporting preparation or review of environmental compliance documentation. Familiarity with Land Use planning principles, zoning, and integration of environmental considerations into infrastructure and resource management projects. Understanding of Environmental Policy and regulatory frameworks relevant to water, air, and natural resources at the federal, state, and local levels.
