Job Description

Vision Coverage Vacation & Sick Accruals available after 30 days Defined Contribution Retirement Plan with a 9% City contribution 13 Paid Holidays The purpose of this position is to manage environmental compliance for the Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Facility; schedule sampling events, review contract laboratory results, write reports to satisfy permit and FAC rule requirements, and submit those reports to regulatory agencies. This job works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings. The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary. Applies scientific methods and principles in the identification, research and solutions in the areas of environmental monitoring, point and nonpoint source pollution, habitat protection and restoration, wetland restoration, river greenways, riparian habitat, land and water use, groundwater protection, wellfield management, underground injection control, surface water discharge to Outstanding Florida Waters, and watershed evaluation. Operates the Reverse Osmosis (RO) Facility as a C licensed back-up water treatment operator. Conducts inspections, reviews sample data, writes and submit compliance reports. Collects and reviews RO Facility operation data. Schedules and collects sampling per FAC and permit requirements. Verifies effective performance within assigned compliance program(s). Collects environmental data and analyzes and evaluates data to reach sound conclusions. Reviews, checks, and interprets scientific and environmental reports. Analyzes situations and takes appropriate actions. Prepares clear, complete, and technically accurate reports. Reviews FAC rule language and permit language. Performs related work as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry or related discipline. Two years of environmental research, testing and reporting, Florida utility or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Group B Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. Performs light to medium work that involves walking or standing virtually all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or considerable skill, adeptness and speed in the use of the fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving close tolerances or limits of accuracy.
